Sustainability

‘Sustainability’ is a multi-faceted term that can mean different things to different people. Iv-Groep tries to give substance to this concept in its own way. For us, sustainability means that we truly want to add value to society. This is not easy, but it is the goal we have set for ourselves.

Sustainability in our projects
The principle of adding value to society is reflected in our day-to-day work. In all our projects, we regard it as our responsibility to maintain and where possible, improve the quality of the living and working environment. We are always on the lookout for solutions that offer optimal results in terms of sustainability. We are careful and responsible in our use of energy, water and finite resources, and seek to minimise our CO2 emissions. We continually look for ways to reduce our energy consumption and CO2 emissions, both in our own operations and in the projects to which we contribute. In doing so, we apply recognised methods and programmes including Trias Energetica, Life Cycle Analyses (LCA), GreenCalc, GRP, DuboCalc and BREEAM.

Sustainability work group at Iv-Groep
To channel sustainability-related initiatives and ideas and to flesh out the adopted policy, we have established a work group to promote sustainability at Iv-Groep. The task of this work group is to initiate, coordinate and implement facilities and measures directly related to sustainability. Our guiding principle is the so-called Triple Bottom Line model, embracing People, Planet and Profit.

Sustainability policy
Under Iv-Groep’s internal policy, many policy measures are checked against the requirements of ISO 26000, the internationally accepted standard for Corporate Social Responsibility. In practical terms, this translates into an up-to-date mobility plan, various measures to reduce energy consumption, involving staff in the development of ideas and policy, and use of the so-called CO2 Performance Ladder. We also look for ways to reduce COemissions in our projects as well as through participation in industry initiatives aimed towards emissions reduction.
